Public Holidays to be reduced by 22 days: Proposal waiting approval from the Council of Ministers

The government is set to reduce 22 days from the prevailing public holidays. The Ministry of Home Affairs has made the proposal to reduce the public holidays in order to increase the efficiency and stability of economic prosperity of the country. The proposal is yet to be approved by the Council of Ministers. Also, the official working time has been set from 10 AM to 5 PM from Magh 16 to Kartik 15 and from 10 AM to 4 PM from Kartik 16 to Magh 15 and from 10 AM to 3 PM on Fridays. The holidays that have been proposed for removal are Republic Day, Civil Servant Day, National Unity Day, Martyr Day, Democracy Day and Loktantra Day. The proposal has also been made to reduce the holidays from Ghatasthapana, Dwadashi and Kojagrath Poornima from Dashain holidays. Similarly, Ram Nawami and Krishna Asthami have also made their place in the proposal. Other holidays including Janaipurnima, Rishipanchami, New Year, Lhosar, Chhath and others which have been proposed to remove.
