A total of 10 candidates have applied for the position of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE).
The candidates who have applied for the CEO position are Purna Prasad Acharya (former CEO of CDS and Clearing Limited), Badri Prasad Pyakurel, Narad Kumar Luitel, Yuvraj Dahal, Prabin Adhikari, Chudamani Chapagai, Bimal Kumar Tiwari, Krishna Bahadur Karki (former CEO of NEPSE), Hemant Basyal, and Mukunda Raj Joshi.
Initially, the selection committee opened the application process but later extended the deadline by seven days. As per the revised timeline, applications were accepted until Falgun 25. Previously, candidates were allowed to apply from Falgun 12 to Falgun 18, but the committee decided to extend the deadline to provide more opportunities for eligible candidates.
To be eligible for the CEO position at NEPSE, candidates must have a postgraduate degree or equivalent qualification in Economics, Commerce, Finance, Management, Information Technology, Business, or Law from a recognized educational institution. Alternatively, candidates holding a Chartered Accountancy degree or equivalent qualification are also eligible.
Additionally, applicants must have a minimum of 15 years of professional experience, including at least seven years in a high-level managerial position within the capital market, financial sector, or management-related field.
The Ministry of Finance had formed a selection committee last week to oversee the CEO selection process. The committee, chaired by Joint Secretary Pokharel, includes Joint Secretary Amrit Lamsal from the Ministry of Finance and expert member Khomraj Kharel. The CEO position at NEPSE has remained vacant since Magh 25 following the completion of the tenure of the former CEO, Krishna Bahadur Karki.
With a strong pool of candidates, the selection process is expected to be competitive, as NEPSE looks forward to appointing a qualified leader to drive the capital market forward.
