With the motive of accelerating the development of the stock market, investors’ pressure group had submitted 32 point demands that they wanted changed or improved in the securities market of Nepal.
Since these demands were not fulfilled by the authorities within the given time, the members of the pressure group decided to sit for relay hunger strike again at NEPSE premises at Singh Durbar. The hunger strike had just begun when 14 members of the group were arrested by metropolitan police personnel under the supervision of Inspector Shivakumar Budathoki of Anamnagar.
To initiate the protest, the members of the group reached NEPSE at 10 AM where they were stopped at the gates of the premises by the police personnel. The dissatisfied members of the group protested by showing black colored flag upon which the police personnel arrested them.
President of the group Hari Dhalkal, General Secretary Nayan Bastola along with members Deependra Agrawal, Tilak Koirala, Deepak Pandey, Ram Thapa, Sushma Dhungana, Praveena Gyewali, Purushottam Sapkota, Kumar Sitoula, Rambhakta Giri, Gopikrishna Thapa, Ramesh Kumar Dhakal and Navraj Upreti were arrested from the premise.
They were taken to Anamnagar Police Station where they were allowed to leave after giving their details. However, the members decided not to leave the police station since it was meaningless to leave if they could not protest. The members, rigid on their stand, refuse to leave the police station.
