456 MW Hydropower Project of Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Halted Due to Flood and Landslide

Due to continuous rainfall from the 10th of Ashwin 2081, a landslide occurred at the dam site of the Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Limited (UPPER) at 11 AM on the 12th of Ashwin 2081.

This has caused significant damage to key structures such as the Dam Operation Control Building, Settling Basin, Box Culvert, hydro-mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment, transmission lines, and the access roads to the dam site. As a result, the 456 MW production capacity of the Upper Tamakoshi Hydroelectric Plant has been completely shut down.

Following the assessment of the damage caused by the flood, the process for initiating the reconstruction of the affected structures has commenced.
