The Department of Forest and Soil Conservation and Devchuli Municipality of Nawalparasi (Bardaghat Susta Purva) have signed an agreement to clear trees for the establishment of a trauma centre. The proposed facility will be constructed in Devchuli Municipality-17.

Mayor Hari Prasad Neupane stated that the agreement has paved the way for long-awaited construction work. Two hectares of forest land near the Jharahi stream have been allocated for the project.

A decision by the Council of Ministers on July 29, 2024, approved the use of forest land and tree felling for the purpose. In line with this, Devchuli Municipality has provided Rs. 16 million to the Department of Forest and Soil Conservation to move forward with the process.

The agreement was signed by Mayor Neupane, Ward No. 17 Chairman Ganesh Shah, Deputy Director General of the department Dhananjay Lamichhane, and Undersecretary Rambalak Prasad Yadav. The tree-clearing process will now proceed as per the agreement to facilitate construction activities.

Additionally, the contract for the project will be executed through the Urban Development and Building Construction Project, Chitwan. The trauma centre, categorized as a multi-year project, has already secured a financial resource of Rs. 100 million.
