Airlines cut domestic fare

Following reduction in price of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF), domestic airlines have slashed airfare for different routes.
The new fare will coming into effect from Monday.
A meeting of Airlines Operators Association of Nepal (AOAN), the umbrella organization of domestic airlines held on Sunday, decided to lower airfare by a maximum of Rs 385 depending on routes.
Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) had reduced price of ATF for domestic carriers by Rs 10 per liter on Friday. Similarly, it had brought down price of ATF for international carriers by US$ 100 per kiloliter.
“We have reduced airfare for different sectors following reduction in price of ATF by NOC. The new airfare will come into effect from Monday,” Ghanashyam Acharya, spokesperson of AOAN, said. “We believe that reduction in airfare will provide relief to passengers.”
According to AOAN, aircraft to Simara - the nearest destination from Kathmandu - has been reduced by Rs 115, while airfare to Dhangadi - the farthest destination from the Kathmandu - has come down by Rs 385. As per the revised rate, airfare from Kathmandu to Simara and Dhangadi will cost Rs 2,650 and Rs 10,605, respectively.
Similarly, airfare from Kathmandu to Pokhara and Bhairahawa has been slashed by Rs 165 and Rs 205, respectively, to Rs 4,230 and Rs 5,300.
Airfares to Biratnagar and Bhadrapur have come down by Rs 235 and Rs 275 to Rs 6,055 and Rs 7,385, respectively. Cost of mountain flight has also come down from Rs 9,385 to Rs 9,010, according to AOAN.
