Australian Ambassador Reaffirms Support for Nepal's Development in Meeting with Industry Minister Bhandari
Australia’s Ambassador to Nepal, Leann Johnston, met with Minister for Industry, Commerce, and Supplies Damodar Bhandari today at Singha Durbar, where they discussed strengthening Nepal-Australia relations and explored areas of mutual interest and cooperation.
Minister Bhandari expressed gratitude for Australia’s longstanding support in public health, livelihood, and human resource development since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two nations in 1960. He also highlighted Nepal’s upcoming transition from least developed to developing country status in 2026 and underscored the additional foreign assistance that will be essential during this transition phase.
In response, Ambassador Johnston affirmed Australia’s commitment to supporting Nepal’s development aspirations and pledged to work towards expanding collaboration in areas beneficial to both countries. The meeting underscored the continued partnership between Nepal and Australia, with both sides expressing optimism about deepening ties for mutual growth and progress.
