Bangladesh has reported 552 new COVID-19 cases and five more deaths in the last 24 hours.
The total number of the confirmed COVID-19 cases in Bangladesh now stands at 8,790 after the country recorded 552 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, the figures from the Health Ministry showed on Saturday.
Professor Nasima Sultana, a senior official from the Health Ministry, revealed the latest COVID-19 figures at a televised press conference on Saturday afternoon.
"A total of 552 new COVID-19 positive cases and five deaths were reported in the country in the last 24 hours," she said, adding 5,827 samples were tested in the last 24 hours across Bangladesh.
With the five fatalities on Saturday, the death toll from the virus in the country has risen to 175.
The figures showed that three more patients had been released from hospital during the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of the recovered patients to 177.
Though the number of the confirmed cases of the COVID-19 is rising with an average of 500 cases per day in the country, the number of the patients dying of the COVID-19 virus is growing at a much slower pace, according to the figures.
