Birgunj Customs Office Reports 100% Surge in Exports in First Six Months
Goods valued at Rs 29.27 billion have been exported through the Birgunj Customs Office in the first six months of the current fiscal year, marking a 100% increase compared to Rs 14.56 billion during the same period last year. According to Information Officer Amit Tiwari, the rise in exports is largely attributed to the increased shipment of processed soybean and sunflower oil to neighboring India.
The customs office collected Rs 176.6 million in export revenue during the review period, a significant jump from Rs 103.81 million collected in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
On the import front, goods worth Rs 277.15 million were imported via the Birgunj border transit in the first six months of the current fiscal year, a 6.45% increase compared to Rs 260 million in the same period last year.
