By-Election Voting Begins in Kirtipur Municipality

Voting is underway in Kirtipur Municipality, Kathmandu, for the mayoral position and the chairperson roles of Wards 1 and 4. The by-election commenced at 7 AM, following the passing of Rajkumar Nakarmi, the previous mayor from the Nepali Congress (NC).

The NC has nominated Krishna Man Dangol as its candidate for mayor, while Surendra Manandhar represents the UML, Professor Shiva Sharan Maharjan is the Maoist candidate, and Dhurba Maharjan is running on behalf of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).

In the previous local election, the NC secured the mayoral position. Today's by-election marks a crucial moment for the municipality as residents cast their votes to elect new representatives.
