Bypass Road Construction from Narayangadh to Kathmandu 94% Complete, Faces Budget Shortage in Final Stages

The construction of the bypass road from Narayangadh Bazaar to Kathmandu, initiated eight years ago, has reached 94% completion, despite facing budget shortages in the final stages. The project, divided into two sections, has successfully finished the western part, with only the footpath management pending from Bharatpur Central Bus Terminal to Aaptari.
The information officer at the Road Division Office, E. Chandreshwor Sah, stated that the project, which began under a multi-year plan in the fiscal year 2071/72, has been facing budgetary constraints recently. The construction, initially contracted in two phases, involved the first section from the central bus terminal to a large junction and the second section from a large junction to Aaptari. However, due to budget constraints, the local demand led to a reduction in the first section from four kilometers to two kilometers, with a completion rate of 96%.
The second section, managed by Pashupati Rayamajhi Jebhi, is also in its final stages, with work on footpath management in progress. Despite the construction company completing 90% of the work, budget shortages are hindering the finalization of the project. The Division Road Office Chief, Ramesh Paudel, mentioned that the company has not received the remaining payment, and the department has requested budget allocation for the pending payments and other expenses related to the project.
