Chilime-Trishuli 220 kV Transmission Line Nears Completion; Set for Operation by December
The construction of the Chilime-Trishuli 220 kV transmission line, designed to transmit electricity generated by hydropower projects along the Trishuli River and its tributaries, has reached its final stage. This crucial infrastructure will connect the generated power to the national grid.
Stretching 28 kilometers from the Chilime Hub Substation in Thambuchet, Aamachhodingmo Rural Municipality, Rasuwa, to the Trishuli 3B Hub Substation in Paharebesi, Kispang Rural Municipality, Nuwakot, the project is nearing completion, with the remaining work expected to be finalized before December.
The 220/132/33 kV Chilime Hub and Trishuli 3B Hub substations have already been completed under the project. Out of the 76 towers required for the transmission line, 75 have been constructed, with the final tower in its concluding phase. Only five kilometers of the transmission line remain to be laid.
On Saturday, a high-level team, including Kulman Ghising, Managing Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), and Dirghayu Kumar Shrestha, Deputy Managing Director of the Broadcasting Directorate, conducted an on-site inspection of the ongoing work. Following their visit, they set the goal of completing the project before the Dashain festival.
Once operational, this transmission line will play a vital role in integrating electricity from hydropower projects under construction into the national power system, enhancing the country's energy distribution network.
