Contributory Social Security Programme comes into force

The contribution-based Social Security Programme has come into force from today.

Prime Minister KP Sharma announced the enforcement of the programme amidst a special ceremony at the local Nepal Academy. The programme aims to make the working class people realized about the guarantee of social justice.

With the implementation of the programme, workers shall be entitled to medical care; health and safe motherhood facilities and accident security. More, it covers the security of the dependent family and old age security.

It is believed that with the implementation of the programme, the situation for workers to go home empty-handed after contributing long in the labour market would come to an end.

Workers shall get pension following the completion of a certain year in service.
