Dhanusha District Sees Closure of 377 Industries in Fiscal Year 2023/24
In Dhanusha district, a total of 377 industries were closed in the last fiscal year 2023/24 due to various reasons, according to Kishori Sharan Yadav, Chief of the Cottage and Small Industries Office, Dhanusha.
Of these closures, 259 industries were categorized under commerce, while 118 fell under the industrial sector. The shutdowns resulted in approximately 9,000 job losses, highlighting the significant impact on the local workforce.
Currently, Dhanusha district hosts 536 small-scale industries, 551 micro-enterprises, and 1,058 cottage industries. These active enterprises provide direct employment to around 7,000 individuals, offering some relief amid the recent industrial downturn.
The Cottage and Small Industries Office reported collecting over NPR 7.7 million in revenue from industry registration and renewals during the past fiscal year. This revenue underscores the ongoing economic activity and efforts to support and sustain the local industrial sector despite the challenges faced.
The data reflects both the struggles and resilience of the district's industrial landscape, emphasizing the need for continued support and development in the region's economic policies.
