The National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center (NEMRC) confirmed that a strong earthquake of local magnitude 6.1 struck Nepal early this morning, with its epicenter at Bhairabkunda in Sindhupalchowk district.

According to the center, the earthquake occurred at 2:51 AM, shaking several parts of the country, including Kathmandu and its surrounding and shooks. Residents in the eastern and southern regions of Nepal also reported feeling the tremors, causing widespread concern.

While no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage have surfaced, the seismic event has once again raised fears regarding Nepal’s vulnerability to earthquakes. Sindhupalchowk, the epicenter of this recent tremor, was among the hardest-hit areas during the devastating 2015 earthquake, which caused massive destruction and loss of lives.

Authorities have urged residents to remain alert for possible aftershocks. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) has advised people to follow safety precautions and be prepared for any further seismic activity.

Further updates on the impact and response measures will be provided as more details emerge.
