EC Recommends By-Elections on December 1 to Fill Local Vacancies

The Election Commission (EC) has proposed holding by-elections on December 1 to fill vacancies in 41 local bodies, including two district coordination committee heads. This recommendation was presented during a meeting attended by Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, and other key officials.

Prime Minister Oli, acknowledging the proposal, indicated that the government would review it and announce the date soon. He emphasized the importance of conducting free, fair, and peaceful elections to address the current vacancies.

Deputy Prime Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, and Chief Secretary Ek Narayan Aryal were also present at the meeting, offering their support for the election process.
