Economists' expertise should be utilized for nation building: FM Janardan Sharma

Finance Minister Janardan Sharma has said that a mechanism is needed to link the expertise of economists with the Finance Ministry.

At a programme organised by the Nepal Economic Association to present honourary membership of the Association to the Finance Minister, Minister Sharma stressed the need of developing a mechanism linking experts with the country's welfare.

Saying that the Finance Ministry or government alone is not enough to boost the country's economy, he pointed out the need for a mechanism linking knowledge and experience of the concerned experts.

Similarly, Finance Secretary Madhu Kumar Marasini shared that the knowledge and experience of the experts would be incorporated in course of formulating any policy and plan.

Stating that they have been supporting the Finance Ministry in course of formulating the country's economic policy, Association Chairperson Prof Bishwombhar Pyakurel expressed commitment for continuous support in the days ahead. 

Economists—Dr. Bhawani Dhungana, Dr. Shivaraj Adhikari, Gopal Tiwari, among others suggested the government forward small programs that directly benefit the people, adding the incumbent government has not had enough time to carry out many works.
