Eighteen Hydro Power Projects for Private Investors; GON opens the room for Investment

Government of Nepal has called for investment in 63 projects of Rs. 30.5 kharba. Out of 63 projects investment will be open for government on 46 projects whereas, 17 projects for private sector. The Investment Conference is going to be held on Chaitra 15 and 16 of the year 2075.
For the Investment Conference 18 hydro power projects have been selected. Government of Nepal (GoN) has proposed 7 projects to be invested by the Investment Board whereas, 11 projects will remain open to the private sectors. The Investment amount for government sector’s 7 projects is Rs. 11 kharba 1 arba and 24 crore and for private sector is Rs. 1 kharba 62 arba.
Hydro Projects such as Tamor, Sunkoshi-2, Sunkoshi-3, Uttarganga, Phukot Karnali, West Seti and SR Six are planning to invest under the Investment Board. Similarly, the proposed hydropower project is to be invested from private sector are Trishuli Galchi, Upper Chammeliya, Middle Kaligandaki, Ingawa Khola, Myagdi khola, Lower Barun khola, Kaligandaki Gorge, Upper Balephi, Upper Balephi A, Namlan khola and Tarakhola.
The estimated cost towards most expensive government’s project (i.e. West Seti hydro project) is Rs. 1.62 kharba and that of private sector (Namlan Khola) is Rs. 38.50 Arba.
The largest production capacity of the Sunkoshi-2 under government project is 1110 MW.
The conference aims to fulfill the government’s goal to achieve the hydro-power development.
