Election Commission Prepares for Local By-Elections on December 1
The Election Commission (EC) has instructed relevant authorities to allocate polling venues for the upcoming local by-elections scheduled for December 1. Venues, including community schools, private schools, ward offices, health posts, community buildings, industrial establishments, and public spaces, will be available for use from November 28 until the voting concludes.
Polling will begin at 7:00 AM and close at 5:00 PM, according to the EC. Through the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, the EC directed all local levels hosting the by-election to ensure proper arrangements for these venues.
During a meeting on Sunday, the EC urged local governments to declare December 1 as a public holiday in the respective areas to facilitate the voting process. EC spokesperson Nota Pokharel Aryal emphasized the importance of creating a free, fair, credible, and economical environment for the elections.
