Enhancing Economic Collaboration: Nepal's Invitation to Korean Investors, 50 Years of Diplomatic Ties, and Shared Success Stories

Minister of Foreign Affairs Narayan Prasad Saud expressed the readiness to welcome a significant number of Korean investors and entrepreneurs at the upcoming third Investment Summit scheduled to be held in Nepal on April 28 and 29. Speaking at an event commemorating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Nepal and the Republic of South Korea, Minister Saud emphasized the interest in seeing Korean companies increase their investments in Nepal.

He specifically mentioned companies like Samsung and Hyundai Motors and highlighted the government's willingness to capitalize on such opportunities. The Minister urged the exploration of potential economic cooperation, encouraging enhanced bilateral trade and investment, especially in the fields of agriculture, energy, tourism, and information technology. Minister Saud also pledged to expand exchange programs, considering the significant presence of Nepali migrant workers and students in South Korea and the influx of South Korean tourists to Nepal. Recognizing the strengthening ties between the two countries, he expressed Nepal's desire to learn from South Korea's success stories and enhance partnerships for mutual benefits.

Secretary Kewal Prasad Bhandari praised South Korea's priority for Nepali workers and believed that the skills acquired by Nepalis in South Korea would be beneficial for Nepal's development. South Korean Ambassador Park Tae-Young emphasized the 50-year journey as a tale of shared values and mutual respect, contributing to personal and economic development. Both the Minister and the Ambassador unveiled a logo commemorating the diplomatic ties' 50th anniversary and launched a book showcasing success stories of Nepali migrant workers from South Korea's Employment Permit System program.
