The Devipur village based in Shivaraj Municipality-8 of Kapilvastu has been deprived of land ownership certificate.

As many as 119 households have been residing in the village which saw the expansion of settlement in 2059 BS. All these households have been deprived of obtaining land ownership certificates.

CARITAS Nepal and Sahaj Nepal Kapilvastu had constructed 123 houses at the investment of Rs 5.5 million for resettlement.

Sahaj Nepal Chair Sharad Adhikari shared the resettlement was arranged for helpless people when their entire settlement was displaced.

A decade has already elapsed but they are yet to obtain ownership certificates of the land where they have been residing, complained Khetulal Ranamagar, a local. They are still in the status of landless squatters even a decade following the resettlement, he said.

However, Municipality Mayor Netraraj Adhikari said that it was not possible for the local level to resolve the issue of land ownership certificate.
