EU Grants Rs 12 Million to Creation Nepal for Plastic Waste Management Entrepreneurship

The European Union (EU) has awarded a grant of Rs 12 million to Creation Nepal to support a project aimed at fostering entrepreneurship in plastic waste management. This funding will be used to launch a green shift project across three provinces.

Unish Ghimire, the project chief, stated that the financial assistance will be directed towards private enterprises managing plastic waste. Six enterprises, with two each from Bagmati, Madhesh, and Lumbini Provinces, will receive the grants based on their performance, with each selected enterprise receiving Rs 2 million.

Ghimire explained, "The grant will aid in building the capacity of the enterprises, enhancing their physical infrastructure, and purchasing necessary machinery."

Anand Mishra, the founder chair of Creation Nepal, remarked that this might be the first significant grant received at the private level for innovation in this sector.
