It is said that investing in stock market is for short term but I would say that it is equally good for long term investments as well.
Investing in Hydro Power sector would be better if our plan is for long term investments. Hydropower Company like Chilime Hydropower has been providing good returns to the investors. After the completion of the project, Chilime will be providing returns 3 times more than it is providing now. Plus, its shares are sellable any time.
As Hydro power is a new sector, the capital gains of the company will be more than the Banking sectors that has been established a long ago.

As an investor I would go for diversified portfolio rather than investing in just one sector. I believe every sector has its own pros and cons and every investor has different investment strategies but I would go for a diversified sector as investing in single sector would be risky.
If I have to name one secure sector to invest in than it would definitely be the Banking sector as it is a highly regulated sector.
