Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel Assures Budget Will Not Hinder Government's Vision
The newly-appointed Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister, Bishnu Prasad Paudel, has assured that the budget presented by the previous government will not impede the implementation of the newly formed government's vision and mission.
Taking charge at the Ministry of Finance in Singha Durbar after his swearing-in ceremony at the Office of the President, Minister Paudel expressed confidence that any challenges in budget execution could be resolved through procedural means. Emphasizing that the joint government of the two largest parliamentary parties signifies political stability, he affirmed his belief that economic issues plaguing the country would gradually be addressed under this stable administration.
"We will not let the budget obstruct the government's goals and vision. Should any obstacles arise, there are legal and constitutional avenues for resolution. We will proceed with necessary amendments as required," stated Finance Minister Paudel. Highlighting production and employment as key priorities, he called for collective support across all sectors to foster economic recovery and growth in the new political landscape.
In his first decision as Finance Minister, Paudel announced plans to conduct a comprehensive study to identify areas requiring development finance. This marks Paudel's third term as Deputy Prime Minister and fourth tenure as Finance Minister, reflecting his extensive experience in national governance. A seasoned leader of the CPN (UML), he has been actively involved in politics for over four decades and currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the party.
