Finance Minister Dr. Mahat Asserts: Parliament-Approved Budget Unalterable, No Room for Reduction
Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat firmly asserted in a press conference today that the approved budget by the Federal Parliament remains unchanged and cannot be reduced. Addressing recent reports suggesting a reduction in the current fiscal year's budget, Minister Mahat clarified that the Ministry has not made any cuts to the parliamentary-approved budget.
To dispel any confusion, Minister Mahat emphasized that the budget evaluation conducted mid-term was solely a routine assessment. He highlighted the positive progress in revenue and budget implementation, revealing a commendable 10% increase in revenue collection compared to the previous fiscal year.
Assuring the public, Minister Mahat affirmed that additional revenue would be collected and expended following established regulations. He clarified that the income and expenditure estimates were based on the revenue collected, reiterating the government's commitment to transparent financial practices.
For the current fiscal year, a budget of Rs 17.51 Kharba has been allocated, and Minister Mahat disclosed that a budget ceiling of Rs 18 Arba has been set for the upcoming fiscal year 2081/82. This information was provided during the press conference held at the ministry today.
