Finance Minister Poudel Engages in High-Level Discussions with ADB, World Bank, and IFC on Future Collaborations
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Bishnu Poudel, currently attending the annual meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), held significant discussions with high-ranking financial officials aimed at advancing Nepal’s development agenda.
During a meeting with the Vice President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Yingming Yang, the two leaders discussed the current capital situation of the ADB and explored future opportunities for collaboration between the bank and Nepal. Poudel praised ADB’s contributions to various construction projects in Nepal and expressed gratitude for the bank's recent USD 3 million grant, which was allocated to aid survivors of the country's recent floods and landslides.
The Nepali Embassy in Washington, D.C. confirmed that Yang briefed Minister Poudel on the new partnership strategy that ADB is developing to support Nepal’s structural and developmental needs.
On the same day, Poudel met with Wempi Saputra, Executive Director of the World Bank Group (WBG). Director Saputra assured him of the World Bank's ongoing commitment to enhancing its participation in Nepal’s development initiatives, promising more focused support for the country's socio-economic growth.
Additionally, Poudel engaged in talks with Riccardo Puliti, Vice President of the International Finance Corporation (IFC). These discussions centered on expanding financial cooperation and exploring ways to foster private sector growth, which is essential for driving sustainable development in Nepal.
These high-level meetings highlight Nepal's active efforts to bolster international support and partnership to drive forward its national development goals.
