Floods and Landslides in Makawanpur Cause Over Rs. 1.69 Billion in Losses
The recent floods and landslides in Makawanpur have inflicted damages exceeding Rs. 1.69 billion, reports the District Administration Office. Indrasarobar Rural Municipality faced the highest toll in terms of lives and infrastructure, said Assistant Chief District Officer Gholak Raj Dhakal.
A total of 134 houses were completely destroyed, while 183 sustained partial damage across 10 municipalities. The disaster also destroyed 16 suspension bridges, damaged 51 roads, and affected 23,079 ropanis of land in five municipalities. Additionally, 58 physical infrastructures related to drinking water and electricity were damaged.
The tragedy claimed ten lives, with six fatalities in Indrasarobar Rural Municipality, two in Manahari Rural Municipality, and one each in Makawanpurgadhi and Bagmati Rural Municipality. Injuries were reported in Thaha, Bhimphedi, Makawanpurgadhi, Bakaiyan, and Bagmati Rural Municipalities.
