Finance Minister Dr. Prakash Sharan Mahat has instructed employees to focus on producing tangible results and assured them that he is willing to address their justified demands. Guiding an inspection of the Krishnanagar Customs and Internal Revenue Office, he emphasized that employees will be assessed based on their performance, irrespective of their positions and responsibilities. Minister Mahat expressed the belief that achieving revenue targets is feasible through a realistic evaluation of business practices with discipline and transparency. He encouraged customs and revenue employees to adapt to the dynamic nature of trade and business.

Highlighting the interconnectedness of internal revenue and customs, Mahat suggested that monitoring trade and business from a revenue perspective would be more effective if customs identified legally imported goods. He noted that many goods are now subject to taxation, providing insight into transaction volumes and income. The minister stressed the need to monitor new service-based businesses like hotels and restaurants, ensuring their registration and integration into the tax system.

Mahat directed employees to actively contribute to revenue growth while upholding discipline and transparency. He emphasized the importance of avoiding unnecessary harassment and urged customs and revenue employees to remain vigilant and dedicated to their duties and responsibilities.
