The World's Billionaires is an annual ranking by documented net worth of the world's wealthiest billionaires compiled and published in March annually by the American business magazine Forbes. The list was first published in March 1987.

This year has become one of the rough year for many billionaire . For only the second year in a decade, both the number of billionaires and their total wealth shrank, proving that even the wealthiest are not immune to economic forces and weak stock markets. In the latest count by Forbes, there are 2,153 billionaires, 55 fewer than the previous year. Of those, 46% have less net worth than they had in last year. In total, the Ultra-rich are worth $8.7 trillion, down $400 billion from 2018. A total of 247 members (11%) are dropped out from the rank this year due to the height of the global financial crisis.

The hardest hit was in Asia-Pacific with 60 fewer billionaires. That dip was led by China, which has 49 fewer billionaires than a year ago. Europe, the Middle East and Africa also lost ground. The Americas, driven by a resurgent Brazil, and the U.S. are the only two regions that have more billionaires than they did a year ago. There are now a record 607 in the U.S. That includes 14 of the world’s 20 richest people. Jeff Bezos, the founder of amazon.com, one of the largest e-commerce site, is again number 1 in the world, followed by Bill Gates (founder of microsoft) at number 2.

Nepal's first and only billionaire Binod Chaudhary, who is a businessman, industrialist, philanthropist and politician serving in the Nepal Congress, has successfully managed to secure 1349th position in this ranking with the net worth of 1.7 billions. The source of his wealth is diversified.

However, there are 195 newcomers to join the rank. The richest newcomer is Colin Huang, the founder of Chinese discount web retailer Pinduoduo, which went public in the U.S. in July. Other notable new entrants are Daniel Ek and Martin Lorentzon, co-founders of spotify. Kylie Jenner has sucessfully secured the position of being the world's youngest billionaire at age 21.
