The Special Court on Monday released former governor of the Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) Tilak Rawal on a bail of Rs 1 million.
A division bench of Chairman of Special Court Baburam Regmi, judges Ratna Bahandur Bagchand and Pramod Kumar Shrestha handed down the directive, Registrar of the Special Court Bhim Kumar Shrestha said.
Rawal was released after he submitted the amount as directed by the court. The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) had lodged a case at the special court last month against Rawal claiming his involvement in the massive irregularities in printing of the polymer notes of Nepal from Australia.
The CIAA has lodged the case against the then Chief of Note Department of NRB Upendra Keshari Poudel, local agent responsible for printing of polymer notes Himalaya Bahadur Pandey and the then governor Rawal.
