The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) Board of Directors decided on 25 Jestha to open share trading from Sunday through Friday every week, except on public holidays.
As a test from Jestha, the administration had planned to provide public leave for two days (Saturday and Sunday). However, following the widespread outcry, the administration reversed its decision to declare a public holiday on Sunday. NEPSE has opted to open share trading six days a week in response to the government's decision to remove the two days of national holiday.
From Sunday to Thursday, the shares will be traded from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Fridays, however, shares will only be traded from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The stock market was open five days a week from Monday through Friday after the government decided to grant public holidays on Sundays. However, this routine of closing stock trading on Sunday lasted only a month i.e Jestha.
