Gandaki Province Prioritizes Tourism Development in FY 2081/82 Budget
The Gandaki Province Government has prioritized the development of the tourism sector in its budget for the fiscal year 2081/82, presented on Saturday. The budget outlines several initiatives aimed at promoting major tourist destinations and attracting both domestic and foreign tourists through collaboration with the private sector.
The budget includes plans to implement various tourism packages in partnership with tourism entrepreneurs, alongside launching the 'Home First and Abroad Later' campaign. Additionally, funds have been allocated for the development of 11 tourist destinations in cooperation with Pokhara, the tourism capital, and neighboring local levels.
As part of the 'Preservation of Trekking Routes - Promotion of Tourism' campaign, allocations have been made for the conservation, development, and upgrading of trekking routes in Annapurna, Manaslu, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre, Mardi, and other areas.
To bolster religious tourism, the budget provides for the promotion of key religious sites, including Gajendramoksha Dham, Muktinath, and Manakamana. Infrastructure development and capacity-building programs for homestays are also planned, aiming to connect rural tourism with production and employment opportunities.
Furthermore, the budget supports the construction of lake-to-lake cycling routes in Jomsom (Mustang), Bandipur (Tanahun), and Pokhara, enhancing tourism through cycling. The budget also allocates funds for training programs to develop human resources in mountain climbing and to recognize and honor local mountaineers.
These initiatives reflect Gandaki Province's commitment to leveraging its natural and cultural assets to boost tourism and stimulate economic growth.
