Government Allocates Relief Funds for 71 Local Levels Affected by Floods and Landslides
The 27th meeting of the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Executive Committee has decided to allocate relief funds to local levels impacted by floods and landslides caused by heavy rainfall from September 26 to 29.
Chaired by Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak at the NDRRMA office in Singhdurbar, the meeting approved the release of funds to 71 affected local levels. These areas will be classified into three categories, with relief amounts ranging from Rs 5 million to Rs 10 million, according to Basant Adhikari, joint secretary of the NDRRMA.
The committee also recommended that the National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management provide immediate relief through the District Disaster Management Committee. For long-term reconstruction and rehabilitation, a detailed damage assessment will be conducted, guiding sectoral agencies in the rebuilding process.
Additionally, the NDRRMA has been instructed to draft an action plan for reconstruction efforts. The Ministry of Health and Population will offer free health insurance to families who lost loved ones in disasters during the monsoon.
Health Minister Pradeep Paudel and Federal Affairs Minister Rajkumar Gupta also participated in the meeting.
