Government Blacklists 12 Contractor Companies and Suppliers for Up to Three Years
The Public Procurement Monitoring Office (PPMO) has blacklisted 12 contractor companies and suppliers, barring them from participating in any procurement or bidding processes for periods ranging from six months to three years. This decision, made on Wednesday, was announced through a public notice issued by the PPMO on Thursday.
The action was taken under Section 63 (1) of the Public Procurement Act, 2063 BS, following written statements from various public agencies and bodies. The PPMO highlighted that the duration of the blacklisting varies, with some companies facing restrictions for three years, while others are barred for one year or six months, depending on the severity of the infractions.
The blacklisting stems from recommendations made by 12 public entities, including the Transport Infrastructure Directorate at Phidim in Panchthar, Nepal Telecom Central Office, the Department of Roads at Chaurjahari in Rukum West, the Federal Road Supervision and Monitoring Office, and Nepal Forest Corporation Limited. These bodies reported violations and urged the PPMO to take stringent action against the contractors and suppliers in question.
This move underscores the government's commitment to ensuring accountability and adherence to procurement regulations, signaling a stern warning to other contractors and suppliers to maintain compliance with the law.
