Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) will remain closed on these days to mark the occasions. Regular trading at NEPSE will resume on Sunday, Magh 20, 2081, from 11:00 AM.
Martyrs' Day
Martyrs' Day, observed on Magh 16 in Nepal, honors the brave individuals who sacrificed their lives for the country’s democracy and freedom. It commemorates national heroes like Shukraraj Shastri, Dharma Bhakta Mathema, Dasharath Chand, and Gangalal Shrestha, who were executed during the Rana regime. The day serves as a reminder of their courage and Nepal’s struggle for democracy, marked by various tributes and official ceremonies.
Sonam Lhosar
Sonam Lhosar is the Tamang New Year, celebrated in Magh (January or February) as per the Tibetan lunar calendar. It marks the beginning of a new year for the Tamang community, featuring cultural dances, feasts, and traditional rituals. It reflects Nepal's rich cultural diversity and is observed with great enthusiasm in Kathmandu, Tamang-majority regions, and Buddhist monasteries.
