Government Dismisses NEA Executive Director Kulman Ghising Ahead of Term Completion

The government has dismissed Kulman Ghising from his position as the Executive Director of the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) according to the decision made during the Cabinet meeting held on Monday.
Ghising was appointed as NEA’s Executive Director for his second term on Shrawan 25, 2078, following a decision by the then Cabinet. His four-year tenure was set to conclude on Shrawan 24, 2082. However, the government decided to remove him before the completion of his term.
Ghising had been at the center of controversy in recent months, particularly over the issue of dedicated and trunk power lines supplied to industries. Disputes arose between him and the government regarding the disconnection of power lines to industries that had outstanding electricity dues.
Earlier, the NEA had cut off dedicated and trunk lines for industries citing unpaid electricity bills. However, after the formation of the government led by CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, a decision was made to reconnect the power supply to these industries.
