The government has reversed its previous decision regarding the appointment of the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) and has appointed Chudamani Chapagain as the new CEO. The decision was made in a recent Cabinet meeting, overturning the earlier selection of Narad Kumar Luintel before its official finalization.
Chapagain, a resident of Damak, Jhapa, has extensive experience in banking and education, having worked with Sanima Bank and Sunrise Bank. With over 25 years of experience, he is also recognized for his expertise in financial management and information technology. He was initially set to join Nepal Bank’s Board of Directors but will now take on the leadership role at NEPSE.
The selection process for NEPSE’s CEO shortlisted five candidates, including Chapagain, Narad Kumar Luintel, Purna Prasad Acharya, Badri Prasad Pyakurel, and Hemanta Basyal. With Chapagain’s appointment, NEPSE is expected to focus on technological advancements and market reforms.
