Government Spends Nearly Rs 1.75 Kharba in First 25 Days of Ashadh
The government has spent nearly Rs 1.75 kharba in the first 25 days of Ashad. According to data available as of the morning of Ashad 25, the total expenditure has reached Rs 13.56 kharba.
On Ashad 1, the government had spent Rs 11.81 kharba. This indicates that in the remaining 25 days, an additional Rs 1.75 kharba was spent.
The government is implementing a budget of Rs 17.51 kharba this year. As of Tuesday morning, 77.44% of the total budget target has been spent.
No new payments will be made except for bills already submitted to government offices. According to the Financial Procedure and Fiscal Responsibility Regulations, the government must halt payments a week before the end of the fiscal year. Consequently, the highest payment pressure was faced on Monday.
On Ashad 23, government expenditure was Rs 12.98 kharba, which increased to Rs 13.22 kharba on Ashad 24. By the morning of Ashad 25, the expenditure reached Rs 13.56 kharba, indicating a significant payment on Monday.
According to regulations, in the remaining week, only additional payments for bills already received will be made. However, essential payments can still be processed.
The recent trend shows that the government's announcement to reduce payments in Ashad has once again been limited to rhetoric. Every fiscal year, over 30% of capital expenditure is disbursed in Ashad.
As of Ashad 25, capital expenditure has exceeded Rs 1.72 kharba. According to the Office of the Comptroller General, this amount represents 56.97% of the total capital budget.
This year, the government set a target of Rs 3.02 kharba for capital expenditure. Current expenditure has already exceeded 81.79% of the target. The current expenditure target was Rs 11.41 kharba, of which Rs 9.33 kharba has already been spent.
In financial management, as of Ashad 25, 81.4% of the target has been spent. This year, the government set a target of Rs 3.07 kharba for financial management, of which Rs 2.5 kharba has been spent by Tuesday morning.
Revenue collection is expected to fall far short of the target this year. By Tuesday morning, only Rs 9.89 kharba in revenue had been collected, against the target of Rs 14.22 kharba.
With only 69.59% of the target revenue collected, the government has had to rely on loans to meet its expenditure. This is compounded by the fact that only 5% of the targeted grants have been received.
The data shows that out of the estimated Rs 4.994 arba in foreign grants, only Rs 2.75 arba has been received.
