Government's Policy and Program Approved Amidst Opposition Protests; FY 2081/82 Budget Announcement Scheduled for Tuesday
Amidst protests from the opposition, the government's policy and program were approved in the House of Representatives today. President Ram Chandra Poudel presented the government's policy and program on Jestha 01.
The Nepali Congress had been obstructing parliamentary proceedings, demanding the formation of a parliamentary committee to investigate Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane's allegation of involvement in the embezzlement of cooperative funds. Due to this obstruction, discussions on the policy and program had not been possible.
Even today Congress MPs continued their protests during the session. Despite the commotion, the policy and program were discussed and passed.
The next meeting of the House of Representatives is scheduled for Tuesday at 4 PM. Before that, the budget will be presented in the Federal Parliament at 1 PM.
