The Hetauda branch of the Inland Revenue Department has reported a shortfall in revenue collection compared to the monthly and annual targets. The set goal for revenue collection from Shrawan to Poush in the current fiscal year was NPR 4 Arba 14 Crore 30 Lakhs 75 thousand, but the actual collection was NPR 2 Arba 93 Crore 11 lakhs 76 thousand.

The office aimed to collect NPR 8 Arba 80 Crore 45 lakhs 24 thousand for the entire fiscal year. In the last month, the breakdown of revenue collection included NPR 48 crores 86 lakhs 67 thousand from income tax, NPR 78 lakhs 92 thousand from house and land tax, NPR 4 crores 5 lakhs 81 thousand from interest tax, NPR 49 crores 90 lakhs 68 thousand from internal tax, NPR 1 Arba 61 crores 48 lakhs 27 thousand from customs duty, and NPR 28 crores 1 lakh 41 thousand from health service tax.

Among the 32,186 taxpayers, 12,721 have settled their income tax dues, while 19,465 still have outstanding amounts. Notably, 2,705 significant taxpayers are yet to fulfill their obligations. Despite being the capital of Bagmati Province, Hetauda is grappling with revenue collection challenges due to the closure of major industries and businesses.

Chief Revenue Officer Tulsi Prasad Bhattarai stated that the prolonged shutdown of industries has resulted in a deficit in revenue collection targets. In the fiscal year 2079/80, the office aimed to collect NPR 7 Arba 50 Crore 39 Lakhs 42 thousand in revenue, but the actual collection was NPR 6 Arba 60 Crore 88 Lakhs 22 thousand. There was also a deficit in revenue collection compared to the set target in the previous fiscal year.
