In a meeting on Sunday, the House of Representatives (HoR) called for an impartial investigation into the Saurya Airlines plane crash on July 24, which resulted in the deaths of 18 people.

HoR members have urged for a thorough probe into the incident, expressing concerns over the safety of the aviation sector. Lawmakers from various political parties, including Sanjay Gautam, Rajendra Bajgain, Purna Bahadur Tamang, Sunita Baral, Purna Bahadur Gharti, and Sarbendra Nath Shukla, questioned the roles of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) and Saurya Airlines.

The government has formed a five-member committee to investigate the cause of the accident and identify those responsible. Additionally, many lawmakers criticized CAAN's regulatory practices and emphasized the need to restructure it, separating its roles as a service provider and a regulatory body.

Lawmaker Rajendra Bajgain also called for the removal of CAAN Director General Pradeep Adhikari from his position.
