Hyundai's IONIQ 5 N achieved a groundbreaking performance at the 'Attack Tsukuba 2025' motorsport event in Japan, setting the fastest lap time for an electric vehicle (EV) at the Tsukuba Circuit. Driven by professional driver Nobuteru Taniguchi, the IONIQ 5 N TA Spec, a motorsport variant, posted a lap time of 57.446 seconds, nearly two seconds faster than its nearest competitor.
The vehicle is based on the production IONIQ 5 N with minor modifications, including a boosted 687 PS output and high-performance upgrades like motorsport-grade brakes and Yokohama tires. This achievement highlights Hyundai's commitment to advancing EV technologies and its growing presence in the Japanese market.
