The International Conference on Social Entrepreneurship (ICSE-2016) organised by King’s College kicked off on Thursday. The theme of the two-day meet is ‘Rebuilding Nepal through Social Entrepreneurship’
It will focus on innovative areas of social entrepreneurship, social-venture capital, international entrepreneurship, entrepreneurial culture, small and micro enterprise (SME) development and sustainable development, among other subjects.
“The conference is a platform for academicians, entrepreneurs, corporate houses, multilateral and bilateral partners to learn-build networks and relationships for becoming better in what they do,” the organisers said.
The event will focus on case studies, paper presentations and panel discussions on a range of issues such as social reconstruction model, entrepreneurial leadership in academia, small enterprises changing life for the better, social business success and failure, policies of the government on social entrepreneurship and such others.
“There is a growing need to develop sustainable solutions to social challenges through commercially viable businesses which enhance human dignity,” said Narottam Aryal, principal of King’s College. “Social entrepreneurship is a product of compassionate capitalism which aims to maximise social benefits and impacts through businesses.”
The event has brought together a panel of professors and academicians from various parts of the world to impart their theories justifying the needs and challenges of social entrepreneurship.
