India has been elected as the President of the 120-nation International Solar Alliance (ISA) during the ongoing 7th Assembly in New Delhi, with France serving as Co-President. Ashish Khanna from India has been appointed the new Director-General of the ISA. The four-day assembly focuses on expanding solar energy access, enhancing energy security, and guiding sustainable energy growth.

Nepal’s Energy Minister, Deepak Khadka, attended the event and urged ISA’s cooperation to tap into Nepal's substantial solar energy potential. At a press conference, Khadka emphasized the need for collaboration to drive clean energy initiatives, highlighting solar and hydropower as vital solutions to climate change. Navin Raj Singh, Director General at Nepal’s Electricity Development Department, added that discussions centered on supporting member nations in solar adoption and financing solar energy projects.

The ISA, established during COP-21 in Paris in 2015, continues to unite 120 nations in their commitment to promoting solar energy as a sustainable power source.
