Israeli Ambassador Goder Urges Unconditional Release of 125 Hostage
Israeli Ambassador to Nepal, Hanan Goder, has called for the immediate and unconditional release of all 125 individuals, including Nepalese national Bipin Joshi, who were abducted by the fundamentalist group Hamas. This demand was made during a program in Kathmandu commemorating Israel's 76th Independence Day on Thursday.
Addressing the attendees, Ambassador Goder emphasized Israel's strong desire for the safe return of the hostages. He reaffirmed Israel's commitment to peace and tolerance in West Asia and praised the historical decision by the Nepalese government to establish diplomatic relations with Israel in 1960, highlighting the enduring and proper relationship between the two nations.
The event, which was attended by a distinguished gathering including Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, Deputy Speaker, Members of Parliament, leaders from various political parties, former foreign ministers, heads of diplomatic missions, senior government officials, industrialists, businesspersons, media representatives, and other dignitaries, also showcased photographs depicting the destruction caused by Hamas eight months ago.
In the tragic attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023, a total of 1,139 individuals, including 10 Nepalese students, lost their lives. The group also took 252 Israelis and foreigners hostage. During a temporary ceasefire, Hamas released 150 people, including 22 foreigners. However, Bipin Joshi remains among those still held captive.
