Malaysian automobile company Proton has been successful in making its mark in a very short period of time globally. The cars produced by this company are available in many countries of the world and are still in the process of gradually making its presence in other countries where it is not yet available. Giving continuity to this process, Proton will be available in Nepal in the very near future. Its most popular and highest-selling model Proton Saga will roll on the streets of Nepal very soon. Jagdamba Motors Pvt. Ltd, a sister concern of Shanker Group, will be the exclusive distributor for Proton Motors in Nepal.
Looking back at the history of Proton, it introduced its first car as Proton Saga back in 1985. This was just the beginning after which Proton introduced many more most admired models in the market. In 1992 it introduced the Proton Saga Iswara, Proton Wira in 1993, Proton Satria in 1994. In 1996, it introduced the Proton Putra Coupe and its last 2 editions were highly admired and sold in East-Asia and Europe. Likewise, Proton Perdana was introduced in 1995 and Proton Tiara in 1996. It introduced two more models during the decade of the 90s. In 2000 Proton Waja was launched, Proton Juara in 2001, Proton Arena in 2004, Proton Gen 2 in 2004, Proton Savvy in 2005, Proton Satria Neo in 2006, Proton Inspira in 2010, Proton Preve in 2012, Proton Suprima S in 2013 and Proton Ertiga in 2016.
2018 was a landmark year for Proton for it launched its first SUV Proton X70 in this year. This model was appreciated not only in Malaysia but throughout the world. In 2020 Proton has launched yet another SUV - the Proton X50. This model is considered among the best models in the world. Apart from these two SUVs, the other 5 models of Proton namely Saga, Persona, Perdona, Exora, and Iriz have been well appreciated by the global automobiles market and command leadership position.
Though the major market for Proton is its home country Malaysia and Britain, it has already been launched in more than 70 countries of the world. Its main plant is located at Tanjung Malim in Malaysia and has nine Research and Development centers and nine Design centers across North America, Europe, China and South-East Asia. Spread across an area of 1280 acres, the plant is ultra-modern and sufficiently equipped in all aspects. It also has a Research and Development center, Vendor park, township and a University within the area.
Proton also has the most advanced technology and world-class technology can be seen in every car produced by it.
