Jumla Sees Surge in Small and Cottage Industry Registrations

Jumla district has witnessed a notable increase in the registration of small and cottage industries over the past fiscal year. According to the Office for Protection of Industry and Consumer Interests, a total of 4,216 industries of various types were registered in the district.

Binod Kumar Baniya, Acting Chief of the Office, reported that the last fiscal year alone saw the registration of 204 new small-scale industries. These new registrations include 10 manufacturing units, 122 focused on agriculture and forestry, and 68 providing various services.

The rise in industry registrations has contributed significantly to the local economy, with the office collecting a revenue of Rs 2.4 million during the period. Additionally, the office has been proactive in enhancing local skills by offering training programs. A total of 204 individuals from all eight local governments in the district received skill-based training last year, aiming to boost local entrepreneurship and industry proficiency.

The increase in registrations and skill development reflects a growing entrepreneurial spirit in Jumla, supported by targeted initiatives to foster industrial growth and local capacity building.
