Kathmandu Metropolitan City Launches 24/7 Dengue Hotline Amidst Rising Risk from Continuous Rainfall
The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) office has urged citizens to promptly dial 1180 for suspected dengue infection advice and assistance. In response to the increased risk of dengue-transmitting mosquitoes breeding rapidly due to ongoing rainfall, the local government has established a free, round-the-clock hotline at 1180. This service provides counseling to educate and assist citizens about dengue prevention and management.
KMC's focal person for dengue, Rishi Bhusal, emphasized the heightened risk of dengue infection amidst continuous rains. The hotline aims to offer timely information and support to those who may be at risk.
In addition to the hotline, KMC has also requested citizens to call 102 for access to a free ambulance service managed by the Office in case of health emergencies following dengue infection.
To further combat the spread of dengue, the KMC Office has deployed health workers and women health volunteers to raise awareness among citizens about dengue infection and preventive measures.
