The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has initiated a uniformity campaign to restore the historic beauty of New Road, which once showcased its unique charm during the reign of Juddha Shumsher with its three-story white buildings. Over the years, the area lost its originality due to the construction of modern buildings in diverse colors and styles, leading to a cluttered appearance.

In a bid to revive its old-world charm, the metropolis has embarked on a project to maintain uniformity in white and green hues across all buildings. The campaign, which has started with 60 houses in Ward No. 24, is being carried out in collaboration with homeowners, who have agreed to bear the cost of painting their buildings.

Under the initiative, all buildings in New Road will now feature white walls, complemented by green-painted windows, doors, and shutters, giving the area a vibrant and cohesive look while honoring its historical significance.
