KMC receives 452 suggestions under Smart City Technology Competition; will take around six months to announce the winners

The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has so far received 452 suggestions under the ‘Smart City Technology Competition’ that it has announced for the first time.
On December 12, 2018, KMC had called for suggestions on the theme of ‘Smart City Technology’ from those willing to participate in the competition, giving a deadline of 32 days.
The competition will be held under four topics and the suggestions related to these themes have been received, KMC’s Urban Planning Commission member-secretary Saroj Basnet said.
He said the ‘Smart City Technology Competition, 2019’ has been organized with the objective of identifying the problems of Kathmandu city, addressing these problems and exploring new and technology-friendly ways of dealing with these problems.
The four topics of the competition are: Community and Environment, Urban Infrastructure Development, Metropolitan Community Service and KMC General Administration and Management.
KMC has been collecting suggestions from the participants through the website - www.kathmanduchallenge.org.
According to Basnet, 25 best suggestions would be selected from all the suggestions received so far under the first phase. He added that the selection of 100 best suggestions under the four topics would be done by the next week.
The competition has been divided into six phases.
It is said it will take about six months to announce the outstanding suggestions and the winners.
